UT Scanning Head
(dual scanner optional)
Method of Operation: The pipe being inspected is rolled onto the rotators.
The ultrasonic scanning head is placed onto the  pipe.  As the pipe is rotating,
a small amountof water is applied to the pipe surface to provide a sound path
interface from the UT transducer to the ID and OD pipe surface.  Detected
flaws are presented in simultaneous real-time on the CRT screen and
digital printer. Both the electronics and scanner operator can control rotator
and printer on/off functions. 100% surface coverage is achieved by rotating
the pipe and scanning rate at up to 10,000 pulses per second.  The EZ:  fast, accurate, dependable and (EZ) to operate! Available Options: SECONDARY SCANNER (*increases productivity by 40% or more)  Allows pin and box inspection consecutively. OFFSHORE CONTAINER for complete system DAQTECH COMPUTER DATA ACQUISITION PACKAGE, job disk storage, view job on color CRT monitor Features and Benefits: The TechSonic EZ™ is a wheel-type ultrasonic
inspection system designed to thoroughly inspect end-areas of drill pipe,
including the weld zone.  The "critical" end area is where the majority of costly
downhole failures occur, usually resulting in expensive fishing jobs or possible
well abandonment.  Small cracks and pitting that may lead to washouts are
detected with the state-of-the art EZ System.  Comparison: Wheel technology vs. Hand held wedge
type UTEA Wheel Technology • Guaranteed 100% coverage of ID and OD surface • Uses 90% less water than wedge-type systems • One transducer to calibrate and maintain vs. multiple transducers and
multiples • No chance of missed area coverage due to operator error (on wedge systems, 1 operator must manually rotate pipe, possibly resulting in missed areas of coverage) • Very few worn parts to replace. Wedge system rub on pipe and wear out regularly, and are usually not repairable. The "EZ" means:  Easy to operate and maintain, Easy to maintain satisfied customers!
